He was a pupil on the peninsula Bygdøy outside of Oslo when he was arrested and sent to KZ Grini (#8567) on 11th November 1943 for singing a patriotic, German-critical song (“jössingsang”). He was released on 2nd February 1944. He was arrested again on 27th April 1945 and sent to Polizeigefängnis Møllergata 19 in Oslo the next day. He was released on 8th May 1945.
