In Oslo he studied organ with Arild Sandvold and singing with R. Bjarne, Arne van Erpecum Sem and Karl Aagaard Østvig. He started a successful career with concerts in Norway, Leipzig, Copenhagen and Paris and also conducted the Freemason’s Choir in Oslo (1942-46).
