She studied at the conservatory in Oslo with Hildur Schirmer (1900-02), Emanuela Schrøder and Ellen Gulbranson, as well as M. Wein (1906-08). In Vienna she worked with Amalie Materna and debuted in Kristiania (Oslo) in 1905. Since then she built up an international reputation, including engagements in Dresden (1913-14) and Bayreuth (1906, 1912, 1914 and 1924).
