He was a pupil on the peninsula Bygdøy outside of Oslo when he was arrested on 11th November 1943 for singing a patriotic, German-critical song („jøssingsang“). He was imprisoned in KZ Grini (#8569) and released on 2nd February 1944. On 27th April 1945 he was arrested a second time and sent to Polizeigefängnis Møllergata 19 in Oslo the next day. He was released on liberation day 8th May 1945.
