He first studied organ with his father, German-born Ferdinand August Schünemann Rojahn, organist at the Kristiansand cathedral, and music history and harmony with his brother Ferdinand Rojahn. Later he studied singing in Oslo, cello in Stockholm and continued in Berlin. He debuted as an organist in 1893, followed up by numerous official positions as organist, music school inspector, conductor and music teacher in Haugesund.
