Melvin Simonsen

Pianist, organist and composer. He had studied piano with Nils Larsen and Isidor Philipp in Paris and theory with Fartein Valen, Per Winge and Per Steenberg. Further he studied instrumentation with Bjarne Brustad and singing with Øystein Sinding-Larsen. In 1921 he celebrated his debut as pianist and twelve years later as conductor in Oslo. Between 1923 and 1975 he served as the organist at Haslum church in Bærum. There he was arrested on 12th May 1942 and imprisoned in camp Bredtveit. He was released on 28th May 1942.
