After graduating as an organist and pianist 1911 in Oslo and 1916 at the conservatory in Berlin, he pursued an international career as a performer, taught at the Klindworth-Scharwenka Konservatorium in Berlin, at the music institute of Helsingfors (Helsinki, 1919-21), was active in Oslo as an organist and especially as a piano accompanist at the National Radio (NRK, 1927-1947), amongst others for Wagner-soprano Kirsten Flagstad.
